ANNOUNCEMENTS - AVAILABILITIES

We're up and running!  Here are my 'known absences:'

Feb 6 - Feb 12

Apr 20 - May 7

Jun 15 - Jun 24

Robert Chandler was a TV News Photographer, Producer, Editor and Operations Manager for four decades, and he's brought his television and voice over skills with him into retirement. His work has been seen and heard on TV screens nationwide, and on Pandora Radio. Now that his pace has slowed a bit, he has time for new friends, and new hobbies:  drones and music (both played and written). He's ready to put 40 years of putting sound and visuals together for you!

Helpful Hints

I'm going to shoot
on my cell phone. Any tips?

Oh yes!   I know it looks really hip to hold your phone vertically when shooting.

DON’T!!  JUST... DON’T!! HOLD YOUR PHONE HORIZONTALLY so ALL the available image sensors are being used! Get close! Fill the frame with the image.

Got a tripod? Use it! Shaky video is the sure sign of an amateur.

Oh yes!  Always make sure there is something white is in your frame, somewhere.  It makes it easy to correct the color balance of your video should there be issues.

Got any pro tips?
What is the best camera to shoot with?

Where is your audience going to see the video?  If your video is meant for handheld devices, home computer screens, or lobby TVs, a newer cell phone camera is likely sufficient.  But if you’re projecting onto a really big screen for a church or board room presentation, you’re apt to be disappointed!  For those tasks, use a real video camera!

It’s about 30% of what the viewer absorbs!! Important enough to do your best!

Whatever video device you use, make SURE you have clean audio!  Even if your subject  speaks loudly to the camera, it sounds like they’re yelling at the camera – and your viewer!

There are inexpensive Bluetooth microphones on the market that will make your subject’s voice clear and distinct.  Buy one and use it!!  It will save you money, time and heartache down the road.

How important is the audio?
